WELCOME
to the 2025 Broadstairs
Autumn Food Festival
Broadstairs Food Festival has been
celebrating harvest since 2009, gathering
some of Kent’s finest food, drink and
craftspeople together on Victoria
Gardens and promenade. This enviable
cliff top setting, with its views across
Viking Bay, is the icing on our festival
cake.
No festival would be complete without a
cheese and wine tasting and this year, it
is a cracker. Steve Parker, experienced
writer, speaker and international food
judge joins forces with Tom Barnes of
Biddenden Vineyards pairing “Kentish
Wines with Cheeses and other Yummy
Things”.
The word ‘harvest’ comes from the Old
English word hærfest meaning ‘autumn’,
aptly the season for gathering the food
of the land. Historically, harvest was
celebrated with lavish meals of several
meats, vegetables, puddings, tarts
and ale, and would be accompanied
by singing, drinking games and much
reverie.
The Autumn festival is perfectly timed
for imbibing green hop beer. This is a
distinctive ale with a straight from the
Kentish hop bine flavour and can only be
experienced at harvest time. Catch it
while you can!
That’s our festival in a nutshell!
There will be a superb range of highquality products with delicious food and
drink offerings, gorgeous gifts, crafts
and homewares. This is your chance to
meet the producers who are more than
happy to chat about their wares, offering
a chance to sample before you buy. Think
lush jams, chutneys and relishes from
local orchards; cheese from Kent dairy
herds and spirits distilled in the heart of
the county. All in one place, from 3rd to
5th October. And free-to-attend.
The Festival Marquee, on Victoria
Gardens, has a full programme of
chefs’ demonstrations, including
Michelin-starred Stephen Harris, of the
Sportsman, Seasalter and competition
finalists Tony Rudd, 15 Square Metres,
Broadstairs and Craig Edgell, Buoy &
Oyster, Margate.

We hope you will take time to enjoy
the festival during the day and then, a
meal in the evening at one of the many
seaside restaurants, cafes, bistros and
bars that line the streets. Visit our great
independent retailers too, offering
everything from traditional hardware to
designer outfits and jewellery.
The festival has been formed with the
assistance of Broadstairs’ thriving
community, which has come together to
share its passion for local and regional
food and drink. We hope that, after your
visit, you’ll share this passion too!
